The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Lionsgate has just released a trailer for the Hunger Games prequel movie, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and as per details from the trailer, it promises to be a star-studded return to the land of Panem.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes as you should know takes place 64 years before the events of the main series. And instead of featuring Katniss Everdeen, this movie follows the story of a young Coriolanus Snow who however went on to become the villain of the original trilogy as well as a Hunger Games tribute that is named Lucy Gray Baird, who he mentors.

Cast and Story

I personally haven’t read the book that this movie is based on, but based on this newly released trailer, the film seems like it will be a really dramatic return to Panem and the battle royale-style Hunger Games that made the original series such a joy to watch. It really helps that the movie has a pretty stacked cast, which is including Tom Blyth (who plays the role of Snow), Rachel Zegler (who plays Baird), Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, Jason Schwartzman, as well as Viola Davis.

Release Date

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will find its way to theaters on November 17th.
