The Game of Thrones franchise is reportedly getting a new entry on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streaming service which was just announced. The new prequel in question dubbed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: the Hedge Knight, has been rumored for quite some time now, but it wasn’t clear as to which part of the ample Game of Thrones lore it would get to borrow from.

The New Show Was Confirmed at HBO Max’s Rebranding Event Today

And at HBO Max’s rebranding event today, HBO head Casey Bloys has confirmed that the new show has been ordered straight to series and it would focus on Dunk and Egg. In the world of Game of Thrones, Dunk as a character is a very famous knight, and Egg on the other hand is his squire, both of whom go to travel through the land righting wrongs.

The Plot of the Show

Dunk would then go on to be a famous member of the Kingsguard, while Egg on the other hand eventually would become Aegon V, the great-great-grandfather of Daenerys. He notably was the rare Targaryen who wasn’t about all the incest, so you can get to expect a little less House of the Dragon and then a little more The Last of Us from this show as the pair go on various adventures.

Writers and Executive Producers of the Show

George R.R. Martin and Ira Parker take on the roles of writers on this one as well as executive producers alongside Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis, but we do not have a clear release date as of yet.
