About the Movie

Initially announced in 2020, the reboot puts a new spin on the original film, centering on an African American family.

While the core premise remains the same kids hiding the death of their babysitter from their parents the updated version introduces a diverse cast and contemporary themes.

In this iteration, the role of the mom is portrayed by comedian Ms. Pat, who embarks on a wellness retreat in Thailand, leaving her children in the care of a strict babysitter, Mrs. Sturak, played by Oscar nominee June Squibb.

Chaos ensues when Mrs. Sturak unexpectedly passes away, leaving the kids to navigate the challenges of adulthood in her absence.

The cast of the reboot features a blend of seasoned veterans and rising stars. Bel-Air’s Simone Joy Jones takes on the role of Tanya, the eldest daughter, while Nicole Richie portrays the confident and ambitious Rose Lindsey.

Joining them are Jermaine Fowler, Olympian Gus Kenworthy, and a talented ensemble of newcomers.
