Surfshark Reportedly Passes Its First Independent No-Logs Audit

Another virtual private network provider has just taken a very important step in boosting its transparency with its customers. Surfshark which is one of the best value VPN firms out there has just passed an independent no-logs audit that was conducted by Deloitte, an auditing firm, the company in a blog post on Wednesday said.

“The positive result from Deloitte’s no-logs assurance report provides factual evidence to our users and future customers that Surfshark operates on the highest privacy and quality standards,” Justas Pukys, the product owner of Surfshark VPN wrote. “We will continue to perform various audits and tests to get independent verification of our security and privacy measures.”

The Main Focus of the Audit

The audit report examined the configuration and management of the IT systems and supporting IT operations of Surfshark and it was conducted between November 21 and December 2, 2022, as per a summary of Deloitte’s audit report. And as part of the audit, the audit company inspected the design and configuration of the standard VPN servers, static IP VPN servers, multihop servers, and multiport servers of Surfshark.

“Based on the procedures performed and the evidence obtained, in our opinion, the configuration of IT systems and management of the supporting IT operations is properly prepared, in all material respects in accordance with [Surfshark’s no-logs policy],” Deloitte states.

The Importance of the Validation of Deloitte

The validation of Deloitte is very key and important because an independent audit is one of the only mediums to confirm that a VPN provider’s no-logs claims are genuine. And even though an independent audit firm such as Deloitte can only confirm its findings for the duration and scope of its audit, it can help offer customers a certain measure of confidence that the VPN they are utilizing is legit in what it says.

Surfshark’s Terms of Service

“[The] No-logs Policy is one of the most important features of our Services,” Surfshark in its Terms of Service said. “It means your activities are not in any way logged, retained, or transferred to third parties when you connect to our Services. We do not collect any information about what you do online (your visited IP addresses, browsing history, session information, used bandwidth, connection time stamps, network traffic, or any other similar data).”

Surfshark Is the Second VPN Company to Undertake Independent No-Logs Audit in Recent weeks

The announcement of SurfShark is coming just two weeks after NordVPN, its sister company announced its very own independent no-logs audit which was also completed by Deloitte. The company had its browser extensions audited independently back in 2018 and then its server infrastructure in 2021, but the audit by Deloitte is the first independent no-logs audit by Surfshark.
