Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Is Getting a New Feature

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is getting a new feature that the series for a long time now should have had. This new reported feature will make the phone something more than just a phone but even a desktop.

You just may think of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series as quite a high-end device, but it, however, seems that Samsung in the past, well, at least might not have done, because all of these phones simply lack a feature that is found on other premium phones of Samsung, namely DeX. But the company however might be changing its view of the line, simply because apparently the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be sporting this new feature.

That’s however according to sources that are speaking to SamMobile with the site noting that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 would be the smallest phone to ever support Samsung DeX.

What is DeX

DeX, for those who don’t know what it is, allows you to connect your phone to an external display such as a TV or a monitor, and then show a desktop-like interface on it. You can then easily connect peripherals such as a keyboard and mouse, to fully utilize your phone just like you would a computer.

How DeX Works

It simply works both wired and wirelessly but however all depending on the screen that you are trying to connect to, and while the Samsung Galaxy S series and even other Samsung foldables just as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 support DeX, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and its predecessors combined do not.

The Reason Dex Is Not Available In the Lineup

That’s kind of odd, due to the fact that it is a very useful feature and one that these phones in question should easily be powerful enough to run. And while they are not the top foldable models of Samsung, at a starting price of $999.99 / £999 / AU$1,499 for the Galaxy Z Flip 4, you would not be expecting Samsung to skimp on features.

So, it is quite nice to hear that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 might just support DeX, though as ever with leaks, we would recommend that you take this with a pinch of salt.

Other Related DeX News

There is however a chance, though, that this could also mean that DeX will come to earlier Z Flip models simply as a software update. Sources from SamMobile were not able to confirm that, but it could very much believably happen, given that those very phones should be able to run it at first and that Samsung at most times brings new software features to older handsets.

We will probably get to find out in late July or August, as that is when the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to be unveiled, alongside the bigger Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.
