The Royal Tropical Institute (KIT), an independent center of expertise and education for sustainable development, is inviting eligible students from developing countries, to apply for the Partial scholarships for the academic year 2024-25 courtesy of the esteemed KIT Scholarship Fund.

KIT Scholarship Fund Value

The KIT scholarship presents a remarkable opportunity, offering recipients partial financial support of 20,600 Euros.

This sum is dedicated to alleviating the burden of tuition fees for the Masters of Public Health or Masters of International Health programs at KIT, covering a maximum duration of 12 months, from September 2024 to September 2025.

Note: Additional costs remain the responsibility of the scholar. These encompass various aspects such as:

  • Living Expenses: Approx. 18,200 Euros
  • Travel Expenses: Including return flights from the country of origin to Amsterdam and in-country travel
  • Accommodation: Costs associated with lodging during the academic tenure
  • Visa and Insurance: Essential documentation and healthcare coverage

Eligibility Criteria

  • Professional Experience: Applicants are required to possess a minimum of two to three years of relevant work experience in the field.
  • Candidates must demonstrate expertise garnered through meaningful engagement within low- and middle-income countries.
  • Academic qualifications should ideally include a Bachelor’s degree in medicine or a related discipline such as nursing or health sciences.
  • Commitment to Public Health: Prospective scholars are encouraged to showcase their involvement in initiatives aimed at addressing healthcare disparities, particularly in underserved communities or remote regions.
  • Nationality and Residence: Eligibility extends exclusively to nationals of and individuals residing in low-income countries at the time of application.
  • Successful applicants must secure academic admission to their chosen program at KIT, thereby fulfilling all requisite academic and administrative prerequisites mandated by the institution.
  • Candidates employed by multinational corporations, large commercial entities, bilateral or multilateral donor organizations, as well as international NGOs, are ineligible for consideration.

  • Proof of financing for the remaining expenses, amounting to approximately 18,200 Euros. This entails documents such as bank statements, letters of financial support, or endorsements from employers or alternate funding sources.
  • Motivation and Essay Component: Candidates are required to submit a motivation letter, articulating their rationale for pursuing the KIT Scholarship Fund and delineating their strategic utilization of acquired skills to advance the public health agenda.
  • Applicants are required to furnish a 500-700 word essay elucidating a pertinent public health issue encountered within the past two years. The essay should delineate the problem’s ramifications on the community and healthcare infrastructure.
