New Features Added to Instagram Messaging

New Features Added to Instagram Messaging would wow you and make your chatting experience much better. For the past few months, Instagram made some changes to its feed and overall app experience. While some of these changes were of a cosmetic nature, there have been some functional additions also. The most notable among them include the return of the chronological timeline, the parent feature, and the take a break” reminder rollout.

More recently Instagram also brought about an activity and security checkup feature that addressed privacy-related concerns related to the popular photo and video sharing platforms.

Well, one major Instagram feature that seemed to have remained practically unchanged for as long as one can remember is Instagram messaging – well up until now.

Starting on the 31st of March, Instagram shared a blog post that detailed seven new features that have started to roll out to Instagram users around the world. Aside from improving the messaging experience, some new Instagram messaging features include the ability to share music previews, send messages to the recipient quietly, and check who among your contact is online and available for a quick chat.

Instagram to Receive a New Messaging Feature

With some previous versions of Instagram, this means that you would have to stop whatever you are searching on Instagram and head to the message inbox menu. Well, that has come to an end as users now get to reply to messages while they scroll through their Instagram feed. Likewise, if you come across something very interesting and you wish to share it with your friends, the app would allow you to reshare the content immediately by just tapping and holding the share button for a while.

For all those that spend more time on Instagram, the app would allow you to see who is online at a given point in time so that you can quickly drop them a message. Another interesting new feature that would be entering soon is the ability to end a 30-preview of the song to your friends. The company stated that it would be working with some popular streaming apps including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon music to get this feature working fast.

If you are looking to send a fast message to a friend but you do not want to disturb them using your annoying notification chimes, Instagram now allows you to do it without their Instagram app notifying them. all that is required for you to do is to type @silent in the message text, and the app would handle the rest for you. Another new and interesting feature is the ability to carry out polls with your close friends, something that is a straight lift a feature that is already existing and has been available to Facebook Messenger users for a while now.

Aside from these functional features to be added, Instagram would now allow you to make changes to the look and the feel of the app. For all users that are bored with the platform’s regular design, you get to switch to a different, less-boring lo-fi theme.

Why are These Features Not yet Available on My Instagram?

Getting all these features immediately depends on which part of the globe you are living in, these new tools might not be available. In Fact, Instagram has already confirmed that tons of these features would be restricted to a much smaller group of group countries – initially, at least – although we still do not know which markets will be offered the support.

All these new features coming to Instagram only tells you how far Instagram has moved on with its messaging support. For all those that are not aware, the messaging feature right on Instagram was first introduced in 2013 as Instagram Direct Message (DM) tool that would allow its users to send quick messages and photos to each other without having to exit the platform.
