‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ Was Unveiled at Disney’s D23
Disney has just recently announced new movies coming from the studio and has also released more details of its upcoming movies with Mufasa: The Lion King and Peter Pan and Wendy headlining its Disney and Pixar studios panel on Friday afternoon at the D23 Expo which took place in Anaheim, California.
Mufasa: The Lion King which is a newly announced film will tell the story of the father of Simba who as a lion cub was orphaned. Disney at the D23 said that the origin story will be told in two timeframes by Rafiki and Timon and Pumbaa.
Peter Pan and Wendy Announced With More Details This Time
Previously announced Peter Pan and Wendy but not very much in terms of details will treat two characters as equals, Disney on Friday said. And it will star Jude Law as Captain Hook.
“We got to mine their backstory a little more,” Jude law said at the D23 event, thus suggesting that Hook and Pan were once friends. The actor also suggested that he will be playing the role of ‘the good guy.’ The movie will start streaming on Disney Plus in 2023.
Disney Plus Spilled More Details On Its Upcoming Haunted Mansion Movie
More details were also revealed by Disney plus on its upcoming Haunted mansion movie that is based on the iconic Disneyland ride, announcing that Jamie Lee Curtis will be one of the stars as Madame Leota, who made an appearance during the attraction as a head in a crystal ball.
Elsewhere, the trailer for Disenchanted which is the sequel to 2007’s Enchanted starring Patrick Dempsey, Amy Adams, James Marsden, and Idina Menzel and also came up during the panel on Friday.
Live-Action Snow White Movie Will Be Out In 2024
Disney also added that the live-action Snow White movie that will star Gal Gadot playing the role of the Evil Queen will be out in 2024.
Other Disney Announcements during D23
Disney so far has announced an expansion into Disneyland’s Avenger’s Campus, a teaser trailer for The Little Mermaid, a recent Hocus Pocus 2 trailer, Inside Out 2 by Pixar, Iwaju which is a new Disney animation, and many more.
