The Internship programme is considered the most prestigious internship program of its kind in entire Africa.  Through this program, the Brenthurst Foundation’s focus on Africa’s increasing youth population and nurturing Africa’s future leaders is sharpened.

The Machel-Mandela Internship Programme internship will be available full-time, covering a duration of six months, where the selected candidate will be expected to take up the appointment by 1 June 2023.  Participants may be from South Africa or farther afield.

The internship will hold at the Brenthurst Foundation’s headquarters in Parktown, Johannesburg. During the internship, Interns will work directly with and assist the Foundation’s staff on a range of projects and activities, some of which will require foreign travel.

Eligibility Criteria for Brenthurst Foundation Machel-Mandela Internship Programme

To be eligible for the Machel-Mandela Internship Programme:

  • Applicants must not exceed 30 years of age when applying for the program
  • Must have a Masters level degree from a recognized Institution
  • Sound spoke and written English is a major Criterion. A knowledge of African and other languages would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be Enthusiastic and reliable
  • He or she should be a self-starter who requires minimal oversight and management
  • Have the ability to balance deadlines and attention to detail
  • Should be fluent in all basic IT skills
  • A skill in copy-editing and proof-reading skills an asset
  • Candidates must be passionate about Africa
  • Have strategies to strengthen Africa’s economic performance.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of African politics and economics
