LimeWire Shifts Focus from NFTs to AI Art Generation

LimeWire shifts focus from NFTs to AI art generation as it just recently bought one of the most popular free AI art generators in the industry with the reported acquisition of BlueWillow.

LimeWire AI Art Generation

When you say the name LimeWire to web users of a certain generation, more like Internet pioneers, and it will definitely conjure or bring up memories of pirated movies as well as illegal downloads of songs.

All of that however changed in 2022, when LimeWire was at the time revived as a music-based NFT platform, with the firm seeking to become a creators’ studio.

Now, the platform and company have gone one step further in that goal, with the new owners of the company buying up the popular AI art generator BlueWillow.

How BlueWillow Compares To Others in the Industry

BlueWillow if compared to the likes of Midjourney is more like a new kid in the block. Founded at the beginning of the year, it has already proved to be a popular choice and place for AI artists all thanks to its commitment to accessible AI art technology.

The platform itself is slightly different from many text-to-image AI generators available in the industry. And as an aggregator of multiple AI models, the tool and service tests several diffusion models, and this is including Stable Diffusion, to find the top models for the prompts of a user. The model also maintains a very heavy presence on its Discord server, where community members reportedly share images and ideas.

How LimeWire Will Affect BlueWillow

You however should not expect that to change anytime soon with the LimeWire acquisition. For the time being, it seems like the plan is to allow BlueWillow to continue flourishing on Discord, while also integrating the tool into LimeWire Studio.

LimeWire as you should know already includes a content creation space on its website. And in its Explore section, users can easily and effectively purchase music, videos, as well as images that are generated by artificial intelligence. Creators can also set up membership subscriptions for fans and then sell their creations on the site and platform.

What the Company Has To Say about the New Development

According to the firm, “Every post you share on LimeWire automatically becomes a digital collectible for each of your subscribers to own. If you have 300 subscribers, each post will consist of 300 digital collectibles. As your fans trade your collectibles, you earn a 2.5% royalty fee on every resale.” That NFT origin in question, then, is very much clear, with all so-called collectibles reportedly minted on the blockchain, although the BlueWillow buy-out option is thought to be part of the plans of the company to shift its main focus away from non-fungible tokens while also broadening its user-base.

What Users Can Still Do On The Platform

However, dip directly and down into the AI Studio section of the site and platform and users can also easily and effectively create their very own content. But for the time being, only text-to-image generators are available on the platform, with the option to select different AI-powered models, which is inclusive of BlueWIllow. Video and Audio creations on the other hand are said to be coming soon.

How Much Was Paid For BlueWillow

It is however not yet known as to just how much the company paid for BlueWillow – though what is clear at the moment is that members of the BlueWillow team will not be joining LimeWire. How that gets to impact and affects the AI graphic design software (and its current pricing model) after the transition period still remains to be seen.
