Recently, Meta decided to launch the highly anticipated Twitter competitor Threads. Even though it has not gotten up to a week, the platform has gathered far more users than expected. Basically, the app is similar to Twitter, but it is still missing a key feature, which is a feed that only shows you feed from people that you follow.
Issues Users face on Threads
Just as expected from a lot of new apps and social media platforms, there are bound to be issues that users encounter, that is at least till the publishers of the app decide to resolve the issue.
So, What are the issues users Face on Instagram’s Threads? Well, this article is here to talk about everything that might actually affect users making use of the Platform and more.
Threads Users Might Lose Instagram Account If they try to Delete Thread Account
One of the major issues Threads users are facing now is the fact that if they try to delete their thread profile, they would lose their Instagram account. Some might say that is a Meta Way of getting stuck on the platform even though they do not fancy the Platform.
The thread was basically built to rival Twitter over existing follower lists and account names from Instagram but deleting threads risks also deleting your Instagram account. In the “help center” section of the, “Deactivate Your Thread” it state’s that “you can always delete individual posts. But to delete your threads profile and data, you would be required to delete your Instagram account.
On the page, it also states that if you delete your Instagram account, your Thread profile would be deactivated.
Why is my Feed Filled with People not Following?
One major criticism of Threads is that within hours of launch, a lot of people that signed up are seeing a mixture of posts from accounts that they are not even following and then a bunch of random accounts. Meta went on to say that it is a mixture of followed accounts and algorithmic recommendations.
At the moment, there is no way for you to see the post of people that you follow, and the company has not yet indicated whether it would be provided this option with time.
Sending Direct Message
Currently, Sending Direct messages is not possible on the social media platform. So if you have any plans of messaging someone on the platform, you would have to wait for Meta to add the feature.
An Issue Meta Handled Before Launch
One major issue that most startup social network face is creating this network. The thing is why would you sign up if you do not know anyone making use of the platform? Well, this problem was handled with Instagram, as the thread is linked to Instagram and basically almost everyone uses Instagram.
Can Threads Replace Twitter
Since Twitter’s new owner started making some major changes that affected the platform massively, people have gone out to search for another great alternative. And just a few days ago, Meta decided to answer the call, and they presented Threads.
So far, Threads has been seen as a major contender to Twitter mainly because it has something that other contenders do not have, which is a Built-in user base. Users being able to carry over followers from an established social network would make the platform a lot more attractive to users that are considering a move from Twitter.
Activity Pub is Yet to be on Threads
Another major part of Threads that is missing at launch is the integration with the ActivityPub. In case you are not aware of what ActivityPub is, it is a set of open standards used to develop social-type services and apps and to make them compatible with each other.
This means you would be able to follow friends on threads without having to sign up yourself and vice versa. Also, you would be able to take your account with you when you choose to leave threads.
