Call for applications: PhD and MSc programmes for the INTERACT Africa Scholarship 2024! The European Union (EU) and African Union (AU) fund and promote the Mobility in Innovative Green Technologies for Climate Change Mitigation and Sustainable Bioeconomy (INTERACT-Africa), an intra-African academic mobility project.
Through this scholarship, you can study abroad with full funding, which includes your tuition, round-trip airfare, visa fees, and a monthly stipend of €1230 euros.
INTERACT-Africa aims at:
- Encouraging opportunities for inclusive learning mobility through improved HEI capacity building, with a focus on instruction and training in green chemistry, biology, and information technology to create a workforce equipped to apply sustainable practices
- Promoting entrepreneurship and aiding in the creation of green technology companies in Africa
- Encouraging companies to network and exchange expertise in order to foster innovation and long-term economic growth by offering internships, cooperative education programmes, and opportunities for practical experience.
Eligibility Criteria for INTERACT Africa Scholarship 2024
To be eligible for the INTERACT Africa Scholarship 2024, prospective Candidates must meet the requirements below:
- Fulfill the minimum requirements set forth by the Senate or other regulatory body of the host university for admission to the Masters and PhD programmes.
- Present documentation attesting to the candidate’s nationality and place of residence in a qualified nation.
- At the time of application, the applicant must be an African citizen and resident in Africa.
- All Candidates are required to submit a one-page, Times New Roman, single-spaced research concept paper in the selected field of study
- Obtain admission, as attested to by a letter of admission from the host university.
- Agree to refrain from using funds from another EU-funded scholarship programme to carry out the same activity during their Intra-Africa mobility period.
- Declare that they have not previously benefited from a student scholarship under the projects chosen in the framework of the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme 2022–2027.
Benefits of INTERACT Africa Scholarship
- Recipients will receive Tuition fees and research costs coverage for the duration of the study.
- Provision of comprehensive health and accident insurance cover
- A Monthly stipend of €1,230 per month for PhD and 890 per month for the Masters.
- Travel costs to and from the host institution, Visa costs, and settling allowance are also covered
Quick Application Guide for INTERACT Africa Scholarship 2024
In applying for the INTERACT Africa Scholarship, qualified candidates should follow the steps below;
- Navigate to the project’s website through this link https://interactafrica.mu.ac.ke/scholarship-call/
- Apply for an MSc/PhD program at any of the partner universities
- Complete the online scholarship application form. Applicants must apply concurrently to the host University for admission
- Only candidates with admission letters from the host university will be awarded the scholarship
- Subsequently, shortlisted applicants will be contacted, as the programmes start in August/September/October 2024.
Required Documents
The following documents are required for INTERACT Africa Scholarship application:
- Application Form
- Proof of African origin and residency
- A one page research paper in the intended area of study (times New Roman, single spacing).
- Motivation letter showing innovative technologies in climate change and mitigation.
- Two Reference letters (two) with one from an academic advisor or professor/lecturer.
