On a mission to promote educational diversity and internationalization, the Government of Slovak Republic launched the National Scholarship Program in 2005. This visionary program aims to enhance the mobility of students, PhD candidates, university educators, researchers, and artists, fostering a rich exchange of ideas across borders.
International students, PhD candidates, university teachers, researchers, and artists are provided with the opportunity to undertake scholarship stays at esteemed higher education institutions and research organizations in Slovakia. Benefits of the Slovak Republic National Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria for Aspiring Scholars
University Students:
- Enrolled in universities outside Slovakia
- Pursuing second-level higher education (master’s level)
- Completed at least 2.5 years of university studies in the same program
PhD Students:
- The student must be engaged in higher education or scientific training outside of Slovakia
- Accepted by a Slovakian public, private, or state university or research institution
- Undertaking doctoral study programs or research/artistic stays in Slovakia
- Exclusions from the National Scholarship Program
The National Scholarship Program does not cater to:
- International students pursuing full higher education in Slovakia
- Applicants who have spent 12 or more months in the Slovak Republic within the last 36 months
- Recipients of scholarships from other publicly funded programs in Slovakia

- Motivation letter
- Detailed study program
- Two recommendation letters from university teachers
- Confirmation of current enrollment
- Scans of relevant academic documents
- Admission/invitation letter from the host university in Slovakia
