The Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship is a one-year programme (non-partisan) aimed at creating a Strong network of high-potential young Nigerians who are expected to rise to top leadership positions in government and other areas over the next few years.

Established in 2018, the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship (KIF) is a  leadership training programme open to young Nigerians between the age of 25-35 years, it is an initiative of the Kaduna State Government (KDSG). KIF was named after Sir Kashim Ibrahim, the first post-independence Governor of the Northern Region (1962-1966).

Sir Kashim Ibrahim was very passionate about education and selfless leadership which he demonstrated not only as Governor but also as a Minister at various levels

KDSG is the acronym for “Kaduna State Government”. The then Governor general of Nigeria, Lord Frederick Lugard, moved the Northern Region’s capital from Zungeru to Kaduna.

  • All Applicants must write an essay based on the relevant essay topic (1000 words maximum), and submit the documents mentioned below

Eligibility Criteria for KDSG Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship Program Qualification

Interested candidates must meet the criteria below to be eligible to participate in Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship Program

  • Applicants must be Nigerian Nationals
  • He or She must be within the range of 25 to 35 years
  • Candidates must be Graduates of an accredited University
  • Candidates Must have Completed the National Youth Services (NYSC)

Selection Process for the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship Program

  • All Applications submitted on the official application portal before the stated deadline are automatically filtered for plagiarism and grammar. Subsequently, those who attain the minimum score required (cut-off score) and beyond, make it to the second round of assessments.
  • The second round will have each application undergoes a preliminary strength of argument and further use of English assessment by independent editors after which successful applications move to the third round of assessments.
  • The third round will have each application reviewed by two members of the Steering Committee. Scores will be given based on the use of English, leadership demonstration/public service qualities, strength CV, and letters of recommendation.

Successful Applicants are contacted and asked to make video submissions of themselves responding to questions asked.

  • In the fourth stage, the videos are reviewed by the Steering Committee with the best of them being selected for consideration by the Governing Board.
  • While the Governing Board will then handle the final selection of the required number of Fellows who would form the next cohort of the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship.
  • The overall successful applicants are contacted by the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship Secretariat and announced by the Governor at an unveiling ceremony.
