Cities across Europe cities are breaking down barriers for persons with disabilities. If your city is one of them, then apply for the Access City Award 2023 edition.
The European Commission launched the Access City Awards. The awards recognize and celebrate a city’s willingness, ability and efforts to become more accessible, too:
- Guarantee/Assure equal access to fundamental rights;
- To bring about an Improvement in the quality of life of its population and to ensure that everybody, regardless of age, mobility or ability, has equal access to all the resources and pleasures the cities have to offer.

The Requirements for European Commission Access City Award 2023 Qualification
The European Commission Access City Award Program is open to;
- EU cities with over 50,000 populations
- urban cities are having two or more towns with a combined population of over 50 000 inhabitants, belonging to EU countries with fewer than 2 cities with over 50 000 inhabitants.

Selection Criteria for the Access City Awards 2023
Consideration will be given to measures taken and planned in the following areas:
- Built-up environment and public spaces
- Transport and other related infrastructure
- Information and communication, including new technologies (ICTs)
- Government/Public facilities and services

Access City Award Ceremony
The Access City Awards 2023 winner will be announced at the conference to celebrate the European Day of Persons with Disabilities on 24-25 November.
