Earth Journalism Media Workshop  On Air Pollution In Nairobi, Kenya 2024. Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is extending an invitation to journalists in Nairobi County, Kenya to take part in a media workshop centered around the issue of air pollution in Nairobi. This two-day workshop is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of local journalists, empowering them to effectively report on air pollution and contribute to greater public awareness regarding its sources, impacts, and potential solutions in Nairobi.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for experts to share findings from the Clean Air Catalyst project with the participating journalists. Furthermore, Internews’ EJN will facilitate meaningful interactions between journalists, subject matter experts, and communities that are directly affected by air pollution.

This distinctive opportunity will not only allow journalists to deepen their comprehension of air quality science but also offer them valuable insights into the challenges faced by the affected communities in their everyday lives.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are required to:

  • It is important to show your commitment by attending all days of the workshop.
  • Have some prior experience in reporting on scientific and/or environmental subjects.
  • Possess a good understanding of English language and communication skills.
  • Show a genuine interest in reporting on matters related to air pollution and air quality.
  • Grant organizers permission to republish any stories produced as a result of their participation in the workshop.

  • Applicants must also submit two published writing samples or links to stories that have appeared online, with preference given to story clips related to air pollution.
