DUO-Sweden Fellowship Programme 2024 (Up to €4,000)

Applications are now being accepted for the DUO-Sweden Fellowship Programme 2024! The 2010 creation of the DUO-Sweden Fellowship Programme aimed to foster balanced exchanges of individuals between Sweden and 21 Asian nations. In this regard, DUO-Sweden mandates that students exchange in an academic cooperative arrangement in PAIRs (two persons).

Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam are among the 21 Asian countries.

The DUO-Sweden Fellowship Programme facilitates exchanges between educational institutions in Sweden and Asia, fostering collaboration on a balanced basis. A pair of students from each participating institution is required, to ensure mutual benefit and reciprocity in academic cooperation.

Benefits of DUO-Sweden Fellowship Programme

The fellowship can only be used for a maximum of one semester, or four months, whichever comes first. The fellowship amounts are set at the following standard amounts:

  • In a high-income nation, €3,500 for Asian students and €3,500 for Swedish students studying in pairs.
  • Asian students receive €4,000 for middle-class and lower-class countries, whereas Swedish students receive €3,000 euros.
  • The Secretariat will transfer the DUO-Sweden Fellowship immediately into the bank accounts of the chosen exchange students. There are no limitations on how the fellowship may be used. It can pay for living or travel expenses in addition to tuition.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the DUO-Sweden Fellowship Programme, students must meet the conditions below:

  • Participation in an academic cooperative arrangement between a Swedish and an Asian institution
  • Selection by both the home and host institutions
  • Full-time enrollment in a minimum of 24 ECTS/16 weeks of study
  • Exchange duration of at least one semester

How to Submit Application

DUO-Sweden’s online application form is available at https://www.asemduo.org/03_forms/forms_04.php To complete an online application;

  • Go to the LOGIN page and enter your ID and password
  • The host (Asian) institution’s information should be completed in full by the home (Swedish) institution. You can download the application form in PDF format from the Forms banner.
  • In the last stage of the application procedure, you can upload the remaining files, which include the transcript, cooperation agreement, and copy of your passport.
  • After completing the form, kindly click the “submit” button to send in your application.
  • After the submission is complete, the Secretariat should send the Home Institution a confirmation email within three days.

Selection and Notification

  • A Swedish Selection Committee, organized by the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR), oversees the selection process.
  • Criteria for selection are determined by the committee, ensuring fairness and transparency.
  • Successful applicants will be notified in June 2024 via the official DUO-Sweden website and direct communication from the Secretariat.
  • Also, hard copies of notification letters will be forwarded to both home and host institutions for reference.

Application Deadline

The deadline for submitting applications for the DUO-Sweden Fellowship Programme is May 21, 2024, local Swedish time. Late submissions will not be accepted, so prospective applicants are encouraged to adhere to the deadline diligently.
