There are tons of features associated with the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller. Some of those features include a built-in microphone and speaker so that you do not have to be in possession of a headset for voice chat, or the ability to work on other devices like a Pc with windows, An Android device, iPad, and more. It’s quite complex enough that it needs to be in possession of its very own firmware updates that separate it from the console itself.

It is a taskbar that previously requires connecting the DualSense controller to a PS5 through a USB cable, which is probably fine for anyone that owns Sony’s latest console. However, this update requires that want to acquire a dualsense as a PC accessory or to use it as a physical controller for their mobile games in a bit of a bind. How could they get their controller the necessary update without owning a PS5?

Well now, they have nothing to worry about when it comes to the update as Sony has just recently updated the DualSense firmware through a windows PC. There is no mention of updating via a Mac, however, which is a little bit odd since you can purchase a DualSense controller from Apple’s Online Store. Thankfully, these new PC inclusions also mean that users would not get far behind.

Updating the Dual Sense

This firmware update would be processing is a little more involved through a windows PC as you would need to make sure your system meets the necessary requirements – unlike the PlayStation 5, which has been built specifically to work with the DualSense controller. The requirements is not that much, though; you just need to have an internet connection, a USB port, 10MB or more of available storage space, a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 or higher, and it must be running on windows 10 (64 bit) or Windows 11.

If everything is up to spec, also you can then download and install Sony’s Firmware updater. Once the updater has been installed, you would want to launch to the program and then connect your DualSense controller to your PC via the USB cable. At this point, just follow the on-screen instructions until you see a message that confirms that your controller update is completed. And be sure to not disconnect the USB cable during the update, of course.

Verdict

You can choose to update as many DualSense controller as you want this way, however this updater can only handle one at a time. So if you are looking forward to updating more than one, they all would have to take separate turns.
