- Postdoctoral researchers at the Climate School will earn $71,640 per year. They also receive a $12,000 research stipend over the length of the two-year tenure to cover reimbursable costs. These awards can be used to cover moving and relocation costs, as well as conference, journal, book, software, equipment, travel, and other research-related costs.

- Successful postdoctoral candidates are paired with Principal Investigators and mentors from the Climate School’s research centers and programs, the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, the Columbia University Medical Center, and other affiliated schools and departments.
- CCS Postdocs, also known as Officers of Research, are eligible to the same benefits as full-time employees at Columbia University.
- A series of seminars in which each postdoc discusses their current research. Guest speakers are also featured in the lectures.
- Postdocs may also be in charge of group projects that are developed, discussed, and implemented during these sessions. The informal gatherings are designed to stimulate discussions among CCS Postdocs, professors, and researchers regarding diverse transdisciplinary themes and problem-solving approaches.
Requirements
To be eligible for this opportunity, it is mandatory to meet the following Criteria:
- Candidates must have received their doctoral degrees (Ph.D., M.D., or J.D.) within the previous five years prior to the start of the appointment. All doctoral conditions must be met and the degree issued before the appointment can begin.
- According to Columbia University policies, those who are currently employed in positions with a rank higher than post-doctoral scientists are disqualified.
- Post-doctoral researchers should contact the university’s administration to find out if they qualify.
- The program is open to both Americans and non-Americans.
