Artadia is now accepting entries for the 2024 Chicago Awards from artists working in visual arts who have lived and worked in Cook County for a minimum of two years.
Both individual artists and groups working in various visual mediums and at any point in their artistic journey are highly encouraged to submit their work.
Recipients will be chosen through a two-step jury process consisting of a group of prominent curators in the spring of 2024. This marks the fifteenth cycle of the Chicago Awards.
Benefit
- The jurors will select three artists to receive $15,000 each in unrestricted funds. It is important to mention that one of these awards will be specifically for an artist whose main focus is performance or the performing arts for the 2024 Chicago Award.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the 2024 Chicago Artadia Awards, artists must meet the following criteria:
- They must be a contemporary visual artist creating work for display in contemporary art settings such as museums, galleries, arts non-profits, or public art spaces. Note that filmmakers making films for traditional distribution or choreographers working outside of a contemporary art context are not eligible.
- They must live and work in Cook County and have been residents for at least two years.
- They must not be currently enrolled in or planning to attend an art-related degree program in the coming year.
- They cannot be related to Artadia staff or directors.
- They must not have previously received an award from Artadia or The Art Council, but former finalists are eligible to apply.
- If applying as a collaborative, they must be the primary creator of the artwork submitted and any collaborators must be identified.

Note
- While they encourage artists at any stage of their career to apply, they are looking for applicants who demonstrate strong artistic skills, dedicated practice, and a distinct artistic voice.
- You should submit work created within the last three years and provide a variety of pieces to showcase your range.
- Video submissions should be limited to video art, animation, and performance documentation, and certain film and music projects are not eligible.
- It is highly recommended to complete the application at least two days before the deadline, as they will not be able to answer questions or accept late applications after February 29. Please give yourself 48 hours to upload images and video links, as incomplete or late applications will not be considered. No exceptions will be made.

- Organize your application materials
- When describing your artwork, use specific terms for the medium and materials used.
- Be clear and precise in your descriptions to help the jury understand your work
- Submit 8 images and up to 3 minutes of video, if applicable
- Include the title, year, medium, and dimensions for each image or video
- Provide a CV with your exhibition history and bibliography
- Optional: include an artist statement of 100 words or less describing your work and its elements.
