CatchLight Global Fellowship 2024 ($30,000 award)
A significant aspect of the Global Fellowship’s objectives and obligations is to share knowledge and processes with the CatchLight community and a broader audience. During the Fellowship year, fellows are required to report their outcomes and insights through three primary methods:
- Presenting their results publicly
- Conducting interviews with the recipient and/or key stakeholders
- Documenting their work visually and collecting relevant data.
If you possess any of the following qualities, you could be an excellent candidate for a CatchLight Global Fellowship:
- A long-form storyteller working on a project with a distinct goal of creating a meaningful impact.
- A leader with a well-defined strategy to progress and expand the field of storytelling.
- An educator with creative and groundbreaking methods to support emerging storytellers.
Proposals will be evaluated based on their utilization and enhancement of innovative approaches and potential solutions, with a focus on achieving one or more of the following desired outcomes:
- Innovative Distribution: Exploring new methods of distributing an existing project to effectively engage a particular audience through visual storytelling.
- Community Activations: Testing the impact of visual storytelling in engaging specific audiences or addressing specific information needs within a community.
- Field Sustainability: Developing systems and models that advance the field of visual storytelling or the overall media ecosystem.
By being awarded this fellowship, you will receive the following benefits:
- A $30,000 award.

How To Apply For CatchLight Global Fellowship 2024
To complete your application, you will be required to provide the following information:
- A fellowship statement (100 words) explaining how visuals, in general, and your work specifically, can bring about social change. Please also mention who your work aims to inform and the human connections it creates.
- A concise thesis statement (100 words) summarizing what you intend to accomplish and why.
- A detailed description (250 words) of the proposed work.
- An outline (250 words) of your distribution, engagement, and/or impact plan, including identifying your target audience for this work.
- A plan (100 words) to collect feedback on the impact of your work.
- A timeline for the project, which can extend beyond the grant period.
- An estimated budget for the proposed work. You can exceed the award amount, but please specify where CatchLight funds will be utilized.
- Three ideas for sharing your learning with the CatchLight community.
- 10-20 images that CatchLight will have the rights to use in promotional materials if you are awarded.
