Bayer Foundation Women Empowerment Award 2024
The Women Empowerment Award (WEA) from the Bayer Foundation, in collaboration with Impact Hub Network, is an exciting recognition of female entrepreneurs who are leading innovative change.
This award is more than just recognition; it is a commitment to support women leading the way in health, nutrition, and other climate-resilient solutions. They are looking for 15 exceptional winners (5 per region) to join the 6-month Accelerator Programme. Together, they are actively shaping an inclusive and just future for everyone.

Eligibility Criteria
The award aims to offer assistance to women entrepreneurs who are enacting meaningful solutions in the Global South, with a specific focus on Asia Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. To be eligible, applicants must focus their solutions on health, nutrition, and their intersection with climate-related challenges. Also, the solutions should prioritize social or community impact. Applicants are encouraged to incorporate this focus into their applications. Stand-alone climate-smart solutions will not be considered.
To be eligible to apply for the Women Empowerment Award, please ensure that you meet the following criteria:
- Women business leaders: The applicant must be a woman in a leadership position (co-founder or C-level) in the company. Other leadership positions in the organization may be held by males.
- Sustainable business/financing model: Organizations of any legal entity type may apply, as long as there is a strong business mindset and the business is not solely dependent on grants, donations, subsidies, etc., as an income stream.
- Offers an impactful solution in health, nutrition, and/or climate-smart solutions: This includes solutions in food, agriculture, and water. Climate-smart solutions that are not related to health and nutrition will not be considered; they must have a connection to these areas.
- Creating a social or community impact: Solutions should aim to be accessible to Low or Middle-Income Communities. Higher prices of product and service before economies of scale are accepted.
- Driving impact in the Global South: The business must drive its impact in low- and middle-income countries in Africa, Asia Pacific (excluding Australia & New Zealand), Latin America, or the Middle East. Business registration in the Global South is more preferred.
- Revenue-generating and has received a maximum of one million USD in funding: The business should have annual revenue between 0 USD and 1 million USD.
- Strong personal drive & commitment to impact: The applicant should have a strong personal drive and commitment to social impact. Preference will be given to applicants who have overcome obstacles in life.
