Baldur’s Gate 3 reportedly reactivates PS5 cross-saves. And for gamers all over the world and those who are particularly familiar with the game, this is incredible news. That said, continue reading to learn more about this incredible news.

Baldur’s Gate 3 PS5 Cross-Saves

Baldur’s Gate 3 just recently changed the game. Well, I don’t mean the fact that it is become the second most played game on Steam at the moment, catching up to Steam mainstays CS:GO as well as DOTA 2. I also don’t mean just how it’s enjoying incredible success without elements such as a battle pass or microtransactions. And I also don’t even mean just how it is a game that is crafted to appeal to a wide range of players across race, gender, and even sexuality. Any one of these qualities mentioned here alone makes Baldur’s Gate 3 a really incredible game.

What a Developer Can Do With a Game

Larian Studios on Thursday, with yet another hotfix, reportedly blew the doors off the hinges for what a developer can do with a game with just one simple sentence: “As of today, we’re also reactivating cross-saves as we near our PlayStation 5 launch.” (Cross-saves as you should know were deactivated in the early parts of this month after the feature was apparently responsible for some players that were experiencing bugs with the PC launch.)

Do you mean that I will be able to take my BG3 Steam save and then, after creating a Larian Studios account, play it on my PlayStation 5? What sort of devilry is this? Do you really mean to tell me that I don’t have to remain glued to my desktop computer with my not-as-comfortable chair and can then play from the comfort of my couch? That I can even take my BG3 adventures with me on the road? That I can also play from the comfort of my sunroom just so as to enjoy the remaining sunny days of summer? And I can get to do all of that without even having to restart my campaign?

What Cross-Saves Mean For Gamers

Of course, know that cross-saves have been a thing for quite a while now, perhaps most notably with online multiplayer games such as Overwatch 2, Destiny 2, Fortnite, and even the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. Xbox Game Pass, with its cloud, saves, also allows you to hop between PC and Xbox with most games. It has also been a thing to transfer saves from one version of a console directly to another.

But the fact still remains that cross-save is in Baldur’s Gate 3 is making me really lose my mind right now in the best possible sense of the words. What a fantastic treat it is for players that make acquiring a second copy of the game well worth it when it gets to launch on PS5 on September 6th.
