Android 13 could launch sooner than the Google Pixel 7. A September launch date is looking very likely.

Android 13 Could Launch Sooner Than the Google Pixel 7

The Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will almost certainly be the first phones to be launched with the Android 13 operating system on board. But it now seems that some older phones might actually get updated to Android 13 before these handsets launch, as we’re very much likely to see the next Pixel models in October, while Android 13 on the other hand now looks almost certain to arrive in September, a month later.

The latest evidence for the latter is coming from the August security bulletin of Google, which as per Droid Life notes the Android 13 “will have a default security patch level of 2022-09-01.”

When Will Android 13 Launch

And given the fact that Google releases security patches every month, it simply suggests that Android 13 will launch in September since otherwise, it would presumably get a default security patch level from another month.

That being said, this is for the AOSP, android open source project, version, which is not the version that is pushed to the majority of the smartphones out there. Sometimes, that can come at a later date, but in most years, pixel phones seem to get their update on the very same day as the AOSP version. This, therefore, means that if you have a pixel 6 or any other pixel phone that is still supported, then there is a very high chance that you will get the android 13 updates in September.

The exact date at which it will arrive is less clear at the time being, but Droid Life however cites that we could see Android 13 on September 6, as Google pushes updates at often times out on the first Monday of a month. And while September 5 is that Monday, that’s also Labor Day, so shifting it to Tuesday would make a lot of sense.

And of course, that’s just speculation for now, and while Pixel owners might see Android 13 then, most other handsets and smartphones will get it weeks or even months later, as is typical with all Android updates.
