The African Union Digital and Innovation Fellowship Program 2024, is now open for applications and closes April 28, 2024. This program is a golden opportunity for tech innovators across the African continent. Over a demanding 12-month period, the Programme aims to identify and place highly qualified tech innovators from Africa into units and organs inside the African Union headquarters as resident fellows.
While ensuring the sustainability of the developed products and processes beyond the fellowship period through the strengthening of AU staff within those units, these fellows are expected to gain an understanding of the systems within those units, identify data management challenges within those units, and collaborate with colleagues to co-create and build innovative, custom products and processes that enhance data management procedures and the overall work of the AU.

- Take part in many training sessions aimed at enhancing your capacity, led by prominent professionals within the African innovation ecosystem.

- Get stipends per month for the duration of the fellowship.

- Obtain recognition as an African Union Digital and Innovation Fellowship Programme fellow or alumnus.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the AU Digital and Innovation Fellowship, applicants must meet the conditions below:
- Applicants must be based in Africa and are nationals of an African Union member state.
- Must meet the required age criteria of below 34 years at the time of submitting their application.
- Prospective Candidates are expected to have obtained a tertiary education degree or its equivalent.
- Demonstrate the capacity to gather comprehensive information, analyze complex problems, and design innovative solutions.
- Possess technical know-how in developing technology products and solutions.
- He or she must be available to travel and dedicate 12 months to the fellowship program, and this includes relocating to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
- Special preference is given to Candidates who speak more than one AU official language (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swahili)
