Xbox Not Ruling Out a Future Price Hike for the Xbox Series X
After raising the price of the PS5 last month by Sony in response to the increasing manufacturing costs, many consumers have been wondering if tech company Microsoft will follow suit. In a recent interview with CNBC, spencer confirmed that while the company does not have such plans in doing so for the time being, that could change.
What Xbox Boss Has To Say about the Recent Development
“We’re always evaluating our business going forward, so I don’t think we can ever say on anything that we will never do something,” Spencer revealed. “I can definitely say we have no plans today to raise the price of our consoles. In a time when customers are more economically challenged and uncertain than ever, we don’t think it’s the right move for us, at this point, to be raising prices on our consoles.”
Spencer added that the Xbox business model was underpinned by the value for money, thus highlighting the success it has seen with the digital-only Xbox Series S which is an affordable alternative and option to the Xbox Series X. the cut-rate hardware according to stats bow accounts for more than half of the sales of the Xbox.
The Xbox Series S Has Showed More Resistant To Manufacturing Shortages
Tech giant, Microsoft will likely want to keep hold of that very advantage and hope that it is not disrupted by the global chip shortage that is used by Sony to excuse the PS5 price hike. The Xbox Series S so far has shown more resistance to manufacturing shortages than the other current-gen consoles, as its weaker chipset simply means that its components can be sourced and produced more easily.
Xbox Series S Is One of the Most Affordable Pieces of Hardware Options
When combined with the value of the Xbox Game Pass which only spikes when you grab a subscription at a bargain price, the Xbox Series S is one of the most affordable pieces of hardware options in the current gaming industry and market. A hike in price would be a huge misstep for Microsoft, undermining the console’s primary selling point at a significant rate.
Nintendo Set To Keep the Price of the Nintendo Switch Level
This is most especially true in the event that Nintendo keeps the price of the Nintendo Switch level just as President Shuntaro Furukawa told Nikkei it would do last month. Sony for now is the odd one out. That being said, Microsoft will be very keen on making use of that to their own advantage as long as it is possible.
