The United Nations has announced the Application call for the Nippon Foundation Fellowship Program 2023. The program is designed to provide advanced training on ocean affairs and the law of the sea, to Government officials and mid-level professionals from developing countries.
Other related fields such as marine science are also encouraged to apply for this fellowship program offered by the United Nations.
United Nations Nippon Foundation Fellowship 2023
Successfully Selected Candidates (fellows) will be taught about international legal frameworks and best practices in ocean affairs. Additionally, fellows will become familiar with United Nations activities and develop their professional skills. The program will have fellows carry out individual research, under academic supervision, and develop a written thesis on a topic selected by them.
Once the Nippon Foundation Fellowship Program is completed, fellows will return to their home countries, to apply the acquired knowledge and extended experience, in assisting to formulate comprehensive ocean policy and enforcing the United Nations Convention legal directives on the Law of the Sea.

- Individuals who have completed their first university degree can apply
- Government officials and Mid-level professionals from government or non-government agencies can apply
