About the Scholarship

The scholarship is connected to the Australian Research Council Discovery project “Deciphering the effects of self-repair on human language and communication.”

The research focuses on how people deal with problems in language production during everyday conversations.

The successful PhD candidate will study how speakers adjust, correct or change what they say during conversations.

The research will use Conversation Analysis to examine conversational self-repair in English and at least one other language.

Scholarship Benefits

The successful candidate will receive:

  • $40,900 per year
  • Funding for three years
  • A tuition fee offset/scholarship
  • A living allowance stipend
  • Opportunity to complete a PhD at Macquarie University in Australia

The stipend is for full-time study and is indexed.
