The UNICEF StartUp Lab 2024 application form is out, hurry and apply now. However, it was established in 2019 and is a six-month program designed to accelerate impactful startups and businesses dedicated to promoting the Sustainable Development Goals concerning children and young people.

This initiative is spearheaded by UNICEF in Ghana, with support from KOICA and implementation by MEST Africa. It presents a unique method by delivering a thorough business acceleration program with practical support and specialized knowledge in the social sector, overseen by UNICEF experts in Health & Nutrition, Education, WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene), Social Policy & Protection and Child Protection. Participants benefit from personalized mentorship, access to a network of UN System partners, prototyping funds, and various other forms of support. Key focus areas encompass:

 Eligibility Criteria

  • Your startup has been in operation for at least one year.
  • Your startup is a registered business in Ghana and does not include NGOs, foundations, or individuals.
  • The core of your business relies on technology.
  • Your business model has a social impact that addresses at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Open-source solutions or startups willing to open-source their solutions are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Startups with female founders or co-founders are encouraged to apply.
  • The program aims to include startups from all regions of Ghana.
  • They strongly encourage startups in the areas of Health Tech, EdTech, Urban Tech, Climate Action, Fintech, and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) to submit their applications.

  • They are looking for five startups from each region of Ghana—Northern, Eastern, Western, and Southern—to form a comprehensive cohort of 35 participants.
