Tron Lightcycle Run Reportedly Coming to Disney World in April

Disney on Tuesday announced that the long-awaited and anticipated Tron Lightcycle Run will be opening up in the Magic Kingdom theme park at Florida Walt Disney World on April 4. The roller coaster which was founded in the Tomorrowland section of the park is inspired by the 1982 movie Tron and its sequel in 2010, Tron: Legacy, with the narrative of the said sequel picking up directly after the events of the latter.

Tron Lightcycle Run Was Exclusive To China’s Shanghai Disneyland Prior

Prior to this development, Tron Lightcycle Run was exclusive to China’s Shanghai Disneyland where it made its debut back in 2016. The US debut of the ride was scheduled for 2021 previously, but it was however delayed by the pandemic.

Disney’s Official Statement in Regard to the Development

“It’s your Team Blue against the Grid’s menacing Programs, Team Orange. Your goal is to be the first to race through eight Energy Gates and secure victory,” manager for external affairs at Disney, Steven Miler, in a blog post said. “The attraction will be one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world.”

According to reports, the Shanghai version reaches a speed of 60 miles per hour.
