The University of Tokyo Amgen Scholars Program 2023 is an annual Program that offers hundreds of undergraduate students the opportunity to undertake scientific research projects at the world’s leading institutions. The Program will be held in-person at the University of Tokyo, Japan.
Amgen Scholars Program was first Launched in 2006 in the United States, and in 2008 it was launched in Europe and then in 2015 in Japan at the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University.
Today, Amgen Scholars has expanded to additional world-class institutions in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
About Tokyo University Amgen Scholars Program 2023
The Amgen Scholars Program was created to provide undergraduate students from different countries (including some from Japan) who are considering a career in biology or related sciences and seeks to further to graduate studies on biomedical research experience in the basic and translational sciences for about eight weeks.
Fellows will have Research experiences provided by faculty members of the Graduate School of Medicine, Engineering, Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the Institute of Industrial Science.
Upon completing their summer experience, students are expected to acquire knowledge and skills for conducting research and to extend their international friendship through collaborative experiences.

Eligibility Criteria for Tokyo University Amgen Scholars Program 2023 Qualification
Interested Applicants for the Amgen Scholars Program must be undergraduate students who meet the following criteria:
- Must be enrolled in accredited colleges or university around the world that awards a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent)
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of their first year of undergraduate study at the time the summer program begins
- Must not be graduating before the summer program begins, and after the summer program ends will resume undergraduate studies for at least 1 semester or 1 quarter
University of Tokyo Amgen Scholars Program applicants must also:
- Posses a good record of academic performance
- Have sound knowledge of English, demonstrated by a minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 72, IELTS overall band score of 5.5, Cambridge English FCE, TOEIC score of 1095, TOEIC L&R score of 785, or TOEIC S&W score of 310, if not a native English speaker Have an interest in pursuing a Ph.D.
