Fans of the Witcher will start getting used to a new face under Geralt of Rivias iconic blonde and yellow contact lenses. Henry cavil who has played the role of Geralt ever since the show made its debut in 2019 is now set to leave after season 3 as Netflix has confirmed just over the weekend.

This is not the first time that a major character in a TV series or a movie franchise has been recast. Don Cheadle once replaced Terrence Howard as James Rhodes in the marvel cinematic universe. And back in the 1960s, Dick Sargent replaced Dick York as Darin who is Samantha’s mortal husband on bewitched. That’s to say nothing in regards to James Bond or Doctor Who on the other hand who has recasting built into the premise of the show. But however, this is still huge news.

Why Is Henry Cavil Leaving the Witcher?

There really is no great trouble in that regard as Cavill on Saturday posted on Facebook that it was time for him to move on. He said: My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season 4.” Netflix also made the announcement by putting out a post on its Tudum website.

Who Is Going To Replace Henry Cavill

You should however know that Geralt is not going away and instead, Liam Hemsworth will be taking over the role. Liam Hemsworth is notable for his role as Gale Hawthorne from the hunger games movies. His brother on the other hand known as Chris Hemsworth plays the role of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And in a statement, the actor said, “As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia.”

What Is Next For Henry Cavill

The British actor on October 24 said on his Instagram account that will be playing the role of superman again after a short cameo in another DC Comics characters movie.

“A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends,” he wrote in the caption just below a photo of himself as superman and then a video of him talking about his return to the role.

The actor first played Superman in 2013’s man of steel. And in an interview with ScreenRant, he said that his goal for the character was to have the audience leaving the theater ‘feeling like they can fly,’ and maybe perhaps pointing at ales grim take on the character.
