The extravagant X sign on the former Twitter HQ has now been torn down. It is reported that neighbors started complaining immediately about a flashing and strobing X sign that was constructed on top of the downtown San Francisco office building which may be led to the development.
Former Twitter HQ
Well, that was really fast. Twitter, which is at the moment rebranding itself to X, is now taking away the giant, garishly lit X logo that was just placed on top of its San Francisco headquarters, as prior to this reported by CNBC and ABC7 News. The sign as you should know, rapidly erected and supported in part by sandbags, already had gotten complaints from residents that are living near the building.
And according to the city’s complaint, Twitter repeatedly denied access to inspectors that were seeking access to the roof, explaining to them that the X logo in question was a “temporary lighted sign for an event.”
What the Communications Director for the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection and City Planning Has To Say about the Development
Communications director for the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection and City Planning, Patrick Hannan, recently confirmed to The Verge in an email that a notice of violation was reportedly issued to the owner of the building that houses the headquarter of Twitter and that “over the weekend, the Department of Building Inspection and City Planning received 24 complaints about the unpermitted structure, including concerns about its structural safety and illumination.”
He also added that no permit was sought for the dismantlement of the logo this morning but that “due to safety concerns, the permit can be secured after the structure is taken down.”
Hannan stated that the department would fine the owner of the building for “building permits for the installation and removal of the structure” and to also cover the inspection and investigation costs of the department.
How the Logo Looked Like Before Being Dismantled
Videos of the logo over the past weekend showed a bright light that pulsed and crawled across the logo, which the firm just started using less than a week ago. In one of the videos, crews could be sighted finishing the removal of the Twitter sign from the side of the building.
Twitter owner Elon Musk prior to this called the logo an “interim” one, in place while the company on its own end worked on a newer and more permanent one to replace the former bird logo of the company.
What Is the X Logo on Twitter
Elon Musk just recently unveiled a new X logo. The new logo in question is set to replace the famous blue bird of the app as he remakes the social media platform that he previously bought for $44 billion in the previous year. The X symbol as you should know started to appear at the top of Twitters’ desktop version less than a week ago.
Why Is Twitter Renamed To X
Well, you should know that this very move aligns directly with the vision of Elon Musk in transforming Twitter into a super app that is very much similar to China’s WeChat. Linda Yaccarino, the new CEO of the firm confirmed that the logo in question is one of the many changes and steps that are planned in the wider rebranding process of the company. The main goal however is to create something, a platform that can deliver everything to its users.
