Upcoming Super Hero Movie

This upcoming superhero film looks like Rocky, Logan, Unbreakable, and Superman put together in one movie, and it might be your new best superhero movie. Prime Video subscribers, then would want to add this flick to their watch list ahead of its August 26 release.

Based on Bragi F Schut, Marc Olivent, and Renzo Podesta’s comic series of the same Samaritan star Stallone as Mr. Smith, and elderly and reclusive Granite city citizen and neighbor to a teenager Sam Cleary (Euphoria and The Umbrella Academy’s Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton). One day, Sam got attacked on his way from school, Smith steps in and saves him from a beating. And in doing that he shows off some superhuman abilities.

Placing two and two together, Sam finally realizes that his savior is the once superhero the Samaritan, a superhero once thought to have perished in a serious battle against his arch-rival Nemesis 25 years earlier. Smith has been laying low ever since and, despite an increase in criminal activity in the three decades since he faked his own death, smith refuses to adopt his superhero mantle again. Now it is up to Sam, then pull the Samaritan out of retirement and rescue a city that is on the brink of chaos.

The Samaritan Teaser Trailer

Based on its teaser trailer, the Samaritan seems to be a far cry from other Prime Video superhero offerings. The Boys and Invincible, two of the best Prime video shows, are jewels in Amazon’s very own streaming crown, albeit ones with a hard R rating.

By contrast, the Samaritan seems as though it would toe the line of a PG-13 film (That’s a 12 rating in the UK), which would align it with similarly rated superhero flicks which include every Marvel movie to date Batman films.

The Samaritan’s gritty, the real-world aesthetic is sure to draw comparisons with other non-marvel or DC films, which include Unbreakable and Chronicle, while its locations and sets have a much smaller scale budge look and feel of those seen in early Rocky Movies.

Given its “ reclusive superhero meets starry-eyed youngster” story, too, Samaritan seems like it would take it cues from another superhero film in 2017’s Logan, although it is sure to bypass the mature content on show in that X-men Movie.
