The gaming director of Starfield, Todd Howard has just confirmed that the official mod tools of the game will be released in the coming year.

Speaking in a recent interview with Famitsu (machine-translated via PC GamesN), Howard reportedly stated that players can expect built-in mod support to be included to the game in the coming year, thus suggesting that it will enable the same level of creativity as past Bethesda games.

“When the mods are ready, you will be able to do almost anything as we have done in the past, and the mods will be supported next year, but we will do it in a big way because we love it too,” Howard stated.

Bethesda also reportedly released mod support for Fallout 4 the very game following the games release. That said, players can now be certain to expect the very same treatment for Starfield in the year 2024.

Starfield Mod Support

Mod support was reportedly confirmed back in 2021, and it is very much likely that an official release date will be announced closer to the time, with Howard adding, “Our modding community has been with us for 20 years. We love what they do and hope to see more make a career out of it.”

The director of the game was also asked about the post-launch DLC of Starfield, and although it has been confirmed prior to this, a launch date is yet unknown to the community. Howard is at the moment keeping quiet about it for now, stating that, “When it will be released is a secret” (via PC Gamer).

Modders to Make a Career Out Of Their Work According To Howard

The comment of Howard about more people in the modding community making a career out of their work seems really genuine as following the early access release of the game, famous modder Emmi Junkkari who is well-known online as Elianora made the announcement that she was hired by Bethesda to work on Starfield as one of the “lighting and clutter” artists of the game. Best known for her mods for Skyrim and Fallout 4, Elianora reportedly shared the news on X (formerly known as Twitter) and then stated that she had to pretend not to know what the game would be like.

Starfield Players Already Modding the Game

Players of Starfield are already busy modding the game, with some mods in question made specifically for improving performance, while others on the other hand are solely created for a laugh like the Thomas the Tank Engine reskin mod. If it is that you have got mods enabled, then you will find that achievements on the game are blocked, but there is however a very much helpful mod that will work around that issue.
