While it seems like one less game than we saw last time around, the lineup is said to at least still held to a somewhat consistent “a couple of teen or mature game and at least one for everybody” pattern that has been favored by the PlayStation Plus recently.

Just like previously, you would be required to be a PlayStation Plus Subscriber in order for you to download any of the games available for free. But you should not be worried about the new tiers that would be added to the service by Sony, they are not rolling out until June 2022, and even if they were available at the moment, this game would be offered on all the plans.

The three titles would be available to PS+ subscribers starting this Tuesday, April 5, 2022. If you are interested in grabbing any of the four games that were released for the march, you till the 31 of march to download them.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated (PS4)

We are all aware of how the song goes, but what about how the game goes? Well, at least one of the games anyway.

“Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated” happens to be a remake of the 2003 console game that was released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Gamecube. It has a well-regarded title, given its purpose as a licensed tie-in to a children’s TV show – though being a popular choice for speedrunning probably has not hurt its legacy, either.

While “Rehydrated” does work on the cult favorite on a technical level – it makes use of Unreal Engine 4, supports 4K, and makes use of both archived audio and new recordings from the English Language cast – the core game for almost 20 years ago is still present, which has to lead to a somewhat mixed reception. Some have praised the game for the nostalgic qualities that it carries, while others have lamented the lack of more modern game design sensibilities.

The title would be available for free starting this April if you are a subscriber of The PS+, so you can choose to try it out for yourself and see what you think without having to spend any money at all.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends (PS4 + PS5)

This game as you expected is quite different from “Battle of Bikini Bottom.” Obviously, it is a bit more recent release, having to have launched in 2021, but also it is a multiplayer-focused affair.

The Game is made up of two groups of about four players, comprised of various character classes that have two distinct abilities, have to try and out-plan each other to be able to pull off a medieval heist – kind of like if the crew from “ocean’s 11” and the team from the first “Mission: Impossible” decided to go after one particular thing at the same time. But to add to a rival team of other players, you would be required to die with a rival team of other players, also you would have to deal with NPCs like guards and a very formidable sheriff.

You would need to have a PlayStation Plus Membership account to play online, but since you require one to get “Hood” for free to begin with, this should not be much of an issue.

Slay the Spire (PS4)

Rounding out the month’s free game selection is the very popular strategy card game “Slay the Spire,” which debuted in early access back in 2017 right before seeing a much wider release in 2019.

The game brings together some rogue-like elements that include no option to continue a failed run, preset character loadouts, and a slow and steady progression of permanent upgrades and unlocks – with deck-building where you get to remove and replace cards that are in your character’s starting deck for a variety of effects. Victory is never permanent, but then neither is getting defeated.
