The RSTMH Early Career Grants Programme offers annual funding to early-career individuals worldwide for their initial research projects in the field of tropical medicine or global health.

This long-standing grants programme, operating for over 40 years, has experienced considerable expansion. Since 2017, it has awarded over 800 grants in 66 countries. Projects encompassing a broad spectrum of research topics related to tropical medicine and global health are eligible for consideration. 

Grant

  • The highest amount that can be awarded through the RSTMH Early Career Grant is £5,000, which includes any applicable taxes on purchases.

Eligibility Criteria

  • If you are a researcher or early-career global health professional in the field of tropical medicine or global health, you have the eligibility to apply for a Grant.
  • Previous research funding exceeding £5,000 in your name will disqualify you from applying.
  • Applicants from any nationality and location are accepted.
  • The main goal of the program is to motivate the next generation of global health leaders, innovators, and professionals to undertake projects that can have a significant impact on global health.
  • The program acknowledges that some experienced professionals who are new to research may still qualify for an Early Career Grant.
  • All applications must be written in English.

How To Apply for RTMH Early Career Grants Programme – For Global Health Professionals & Innovators 2024

  • To apply, you need to use the online Grants submission platform, Submittable, where you can create an account and submit your application.
  • Your project should be completed within one year and must commence within 3 months of receiving funding.
  • Applicants must ensure that their referees submit references directly to Submittable before the deadline and adhere to the conditions of the Early Career Grant.
