Early Life
The early life of Riff Raff is quite interesting. Real name, Horst Christian Simco, Riff Raff was born on the 29th day of January 1982 in Houston Texas. He is the son of Anita, a maid mother, and Ronald who is a war veteran. His father had some troubles and he was in fact a patient of post-traumatic stress disorder which seems to be a very common thing among war veterans.
In terms of financial stability, the family at the time was not all that able and stable. This however made both of his parents do multiple jobs in order to make ends meet. Riff Raff was the second child in his family and his mother hails from Germany.
Career
Immediately after landing in Los Angeles in 2005, he began rapping and also taking part in various underground battles. He eventually started making CDs of his rap songs, using borrowed beats from notable rappers. When social media platforms were growing quickly around 2008, Riff Raff made full use of these platforms by releasing his songs on several of these platforms and this is including websites like YouTube, WorldStarHipHop, and MySpace.
Riff Raff also did many other things just to make it to the limelight. And some of these things included giving auditions for various talent hunt shows and reality shows. He however then got the chance to be on MTV’s program, from G’s to gents’, and then had to fly to Atlanta to take part in the second season of the show.
He got in contact with Soulja boy in 2011 who then at the time offered him a deal to sign under his label “SODMG”. Riff raff however continued making music videos and two of his singles titles Marc Jacobs and Jose Canseco became instant fan favorites.
Riff raff got signed on by ‘mad decent’, Diplo’s label in the middle of 2012. During this time he released several mixtapes such as the ‘summer of surf’, and the ‘birth of an icon’. He also released an independent album titled ‘the golden alien’ at the time too.
Asides from music, he has also been very active as an actor. He made an appearance on one episode of ‘major laser’, where he made a guest appearance as a scientist. He also appeared on the reality show ‘the challenge’, back in November 2017. Some of his music projects also include ‘how to be the man’, a single which was released in 2013. He also released an album in 2014 which he titled ‘Neon Icon’.
