Resident Evil 2, 3, And 7 Would be Upgraded PS5 And Xbox Series X

This is a trend that we are yet to see with several PlayStation 4 titles either offering a single digital purchase that can be played on both the PS4 and PS5, or with visually enhanced versions being made for their PS4 counterparts.

Resident Evil 2, 3, And 7 Would be Upgraded PS5 And Xbox Series X

These three enhanced Resident Evil titles will be available later in the year, but a date to expect the game is yet to be given. What has been mentioned is a series of upgrade patches for the PC versions of each game, which will be launched along with the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S Versions.

And everything – the PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC upgrades – will be available for free for anyone that have already owned the games. So, if you have the “Resident Evil 2” remake on your PS4, you should be able to acquire the PS5 version at no added price.

Survival Horror, But Prettier

Concerning what you should be expecting from these “enhanced” versions, well, the announcement did not give out more details. Visuals getting a boost is assured as the tweet stated directly that there would be visual enhancements, but that (Plus a few screenshots) is as far as it goes.

If other next-gen upgrades come as any indication this likely means higher resolution, higher (and smoother) frame rates, improved loading times, and many more details for objects and textures.

Verdict

The games would not possess all the same upgrades, since they are completely different types of experiences. but the general improvements coming are expected to be with newer hardware (3D audio support, haptic feedback, etc.).

And really, when it comes to “Resident Evil 7,” something like PS5 VR support would actually make sense as a current version of the game already is supported on VR.
