Players that are playing stray are now putting their cats in the game to spice things up. The game’s furry protagonist is an orange tabby whose antics have hypnotized cats the world all around the world.
He is partly based on Murtaugh, the cat whose human is one of the cofounders of developer Blue Twelve that you are able to read more about him and the other feline inspiration over on the PlayStation blog.
Players Playing Stray are Now Putting Their Cats in the Game
The choice of limiting players to play the game using only the ginger stray, rather than launching the game with your choice of character design, is a deliberate one, now, you should be able to disregard this entirely on your PC.
Also, there is a slew of feline variants over on Nexus Mods that would allow you to find the closest match to your very own moggy. So you get to step into their adorable little beans and whisk (er) them off on an adventure. This Twitter thread has rounded up a whole bunch to offer you an idea of what is available.

How to Change the Color of the Cat in Stray
Modder Sirgalahad1972 is doing tons of heavy lifting with these Stray mods. On their mod page alone you would find a couple of different black-and-white cats, a Siamese cat, a brown cat, and a red cat to name some. They even have gotten some accessories if you feel that the stray needs a statement piece. There are glasses, an eyepatch, and a jaunty newsboy cap to select them.
If you choose to market for something a little bit different, there is also a Garfield mod, and this would absolutely terrifying GTA: San Andreas CJ mod that words cannot adequately describe.
Once you have gotten the clone of your cat on the site, follow the instructions found on the mods’ page in other to swap it in.

Why Stray Does Not Allow Changing of the Cat’s Color
Talking to Kotaku, the producer of Swann Martin-Raget stated that the conversation around cat customization was a “heated debate.” But it ultimately came down to what the studio was capable of, and the narrative of the whole game itself.
“We are a small team, and production-wise, it was quite tricky to have something that really was at the quality level we wanted. But also … the story is quite important for us, and this character – it’s really his story. So, we wanted him to be recognizable and unique in the game.”
PS4 and PS5 player cannot alter their game. Although on the plus side, they get to Play Stray all Free. But if you are gaming on PC, feel free to put Mr. Bigglesworth the second into the game and see if he recognizes himself found on the big screen.
