This scholarship programme is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign affairs, with the aims to contribute to a society’s Sustainable and Inclusive development. The Orange Knowledge Programme is open to mid-career professionals in specific countries.

Summary of the Orange Knowledge Programme

  • Host Country: Netherlands
  • Scholarship: Orange Knowledge Programme
  • Language: English or French language skills to follow classes in the Netherlands.
  • Duration: Short courses (duration 2 weeks to 12 months) and Master’s programmes (duration 12 to 24 months).
  • Focus theme: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Water Management, Security and the Rule of Law.
  • Eligible Countries: Applicants who are Nationals and Working in the countries below may be eligible for an Orange Knowledge Programme:

Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Colombia, Congo (DRC), Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Liberia, Tunisia, Mali, Mozambique, Myanmar, Sudan, Niger, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zambia.

Key Focus countries

Additionally funding will be allocated to the following focus countries for the Short Course application round between 31 August – 11 October: Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Palestinian Territories, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Mali, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Niger and Nigeria so long they receive enough qualified and eligible applications.

However, note that this round is only open for Short Courses and not for applications for Master Scholarhips.

How to Apply for the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) 2022

Interested applicants for Orange Knowledge Programme 2022 should follow the steps below and apply through the Dutch education institution of their choice.

  • Ensure to check if your application falls within the OKP focus areas determined for your country.
  • Read Through the OKP eligibility criteria to be sure you meet them
  • Choose your preferred course on the Orange Knowledge Program course list. You can find a study, using the filter ‘Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP)’. At: https://www.studyinholland.nl/dutch-education/studies?scholarship=Orange+Knowledge+Programma+%28OKP%29
  • Enquire from your employer whether they are willing to nominate you for an Orange Knowledge Programme
  • After which you Contact the Dutch education institution of your choice to receive more information about the application procedure, the academic requirements and the link to apply online.
  • Get your application ready: employer statement, motivation, passport, government statement (if required).
  • In the course of the application round, submit your application online using the link you receive from the Dutch education institution. It is important to note the application deadline of the educational institution of your choice.

Requirements for the Orange Knowledge Programme

This scholarships although a limited number, is awarded to female and male professionals meets the criteria below:

  • motivated
  • Applicants must be living and working in an OKP country;
  • Be Proficient in English or French;
  • Eligible Applicants must be currently working in one of the focus areas for their country;
  • He/She can motivate using and transferring their knowledge and experience in their employing organization after their studies;
  • Applicants must agree to the Obligations and conditions .

Note:

The focus areas are unique for each country. Also note that these focus areas, as well as the list of countries is subject to change. The applications that fall within the focus area of your country of employment alone are eligible.

Other Requirements

  • Employer statement: Applicants need an employer statement that is signed by the applicant and his/her employer.
  • Government statement: Applicants who are civil servant might need to sign a government statement that certifies the support of their government for the Orange Knowledge Programme application.

Selection Procedure

The Selection procedure is as follows:

  • Registration of applicants with the Dutch education institution
  • The Dutch institution then nominates candidates and submits grant application
  • Check eligibility by the embassies and assess applications
  • The Selection results available for Dutch education institutions
  • Then finally the Grants are awarded through Dutch education institutions.
