If your passport is due for renewal, here is a step-by-step process you should follow to renew your Nigerian passport in Germany.

Why do you need to renew your Nigerian passport in Germany?

Many renew their passport for several reasons. We don’t know what your reasons are but you should only renew your passport for any of the following reasons.

  • Expiration: Nigerian passports have a validity period of 10 years for adults and 5 years for minors. If your passport has expired or is close to its expiration date, it’s time to renew.
  • Pages exhausted: If your passport is running out of blank pages for visa stamps and immigration endorsements, you need to renew it.

How to renew your Nigerian passport in Germany

Get a credit card

First things first, make sure you have a credit card. This is important because you will pay the passport renewal fee.

It is also important that the name on the credit card matches your name – the name you’ll use in your application and what will appear on your renewed Nigerian passport.

If you’re paying for your family, everyone’s last name on the credit card must match. You can only pay for up to five people at once, and the cardholder must apply at the same time.

Go to the Nigeria immigration service website

With your card, visit the Nigeria Immigration Service website at https://portal.immigration.gov.ng on your phone or laptop.
