Netflix’s Witcher Season Five

While fans are still waiting for the third season of The Witcher, the streaming company Netflix has already set its eyes on season 5. Sophie Holland, the casting director of the show in an interview with Deadline explained, “We’re just about to start filming on season four with Liam Hemsworth and there will be a short gap then we go straight into season five.”

The third season of the fantasy series will kick off on June 29th, but however only the first half. and very much like Stranger Things 4, Netflix is splitting the third season of The Witcher into two volumes, the second of which will get to premiere in July. And from there, things get really interesting. Beginning with season 4, Hemsworth will be taking over the lead role of Geralt from mainstay Henry Cavill, who is reportedly moving on to other projects. Netflix clearly has a good amount of faith in Hemsworth as the White Wolf with this move.

Netflix’s Plan for the Witcher Franchise

Of course, with everything that is going on with the franchise, it is clearly no surprise that the streamer wants to keep The Witcher going, Cavill or no Cavill, as the series has been a hit ever since its first season. And since then, in addition to new seasons of the main show, Netflix has also released spinoffs such as the animated film Nightmare of the Wolf as well as the prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin.

How Many Seasons Will the Witcher Have

Well, this is one question that cannot be answered for now. We only got to know not too far ago that the main character played by Henry Cavil will be played by another actor (Hemsworth) in the coming seasons. The third season will start streaming in the next month and now a fifth season has been green-lighted already. It is true that the streaming giants (Netflix) will want to keep the franchise going on for as long as they can as it is clearly a hit. But the question as to how many seasons there will be for The Witcher is still up in the air.

And as announced by Netflix, the third season of The Witcher will be released as a split season just as it did with stranger things. The volume 1 of the series will be released on June 29th, 2023, while the volume two on the other hand will be released on July 27, 2023. The season also will comprise eight episodes, with four episodes releasing in each volume.
