Maastricht University Masters Scholarship 2024 (Up to €30,000 Stipend + Tuition Waiver) – APPLY NOW

Maastricht University (UM) offers an annual 24 full scholarships worth up to €30,000 in addition to monthly stipends and a tuition fee waiver. These scholarships are however awarded to exceptionally brilliant non-EU students who have been accepted into UM’s master’s degree program.

Maastricht University Masters Scholarship

The two scholarships that make up the Maastricht University scholarship programs are the NL Scholarship, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science in collaboration with Dutch universities of applied sciences, and the High Potential Scholarship, which is funded by the Maastricht University Scholarship Fund.

Both the NL and High Potential Scholarships are intended for foreign students who want to pursue a full degree program in the Netherlands but are not citizens of the EU or EEA.

Benefits of Maastricht University Masters Scholarship

Successfully selected scholars will review the following benefits:

  • Living Expenses: Scholars receive €12,350 (13 months) or €23,750 (25 months) to support their academic journey.
  • Health & Liability Insurance: Maastricht University (UM) International Services Desk ensures students’ well-being with coverage worth €700.
  • Visa Application Costs: The recipient’s visa application costs is handled by the UM International Services Desk with €210
  • Tuition Fees: The scholar’s education is further eased with UM covering the tuition fees.
  • Pre-Academic Training Costs: UM International Services Desk takes care of the necessary training expenses.

Note: These amounts are subject to change for the academic year 2024-2025.

Qualification Criteria

To be eligible for the Maastricht University Masters Scholarship, aspiring candidates must meet the following stringent criteria:

  • Candidates must hail from a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Surinam.
  • Must not possess dual nationality from an EU/EEA country.
  • Applicants must have applied for admission to a full-time master’s programme at Maastricht University for the academic year 2024-2025.
  • Fulfill the specific admission prerequisites of the chosen UM master’s programme.
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic achievements.

Selection Process

Securing the Maastricht University Masters Scholarship involves scaling through a selection procedure:

  • UM International Services Desk ensures all applications are complete after February 1, 2024.
  • Faculty Selection: Each faculty selects and ranks the top 5% of scholarship applicants in February 2024.
  • Final Confirmation: UM International Services Desk confirms faculty selections by the end of March 2024.
  • Candidate Notification: Applicants are informed of their application status in April 2024, with statuses being selected, waitlisted, or rejected by early May 2024.
  • Pre-Academic Training: Scholarship awardees delve into a three-week mandatory UM Pre-Academic Training in August 2024.
