Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3: Win $50,000 & Fully-funded Trip to OYW Summit 2024

By participating in the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3, a $50,000 grant will be awarded to a youth-led non-profit organization that is focused on addressing the climate and health issues that affect young individuals.

The winner will also receive a scholarship to attend the 2024 One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada, mentorship from AstraZeneca, and be involved in a development program through the YHP Impact Fellowship.

Individuals who win and  their solution will also receive benefits such as:

  • Access Networking Opportunities: Involvement in the 2024 One Young World Summit and Ambassador Network, and the opportunity to connect with an Alumni group consisting of other young advocates dedicated to youth health.
  • Access to Development : Access to structured educational and developmental resources to aid in expanding your influence, including self-guided learning and interactive training. This encompasses participation in the One Young World Academy, a distinguished mini-MBA program, and professional development courses.
  • Access to Funding: As part of the fellowship requirements, all fellows are to oversee a community project aimed at enhancing youth healthcare accessibility. The chosen organization will be awarded a US$50,000 grant to support this initiative.

Eligibility Requirement

  • Citizens from eligible countries are welcome to apply for this scholarship.
  • Candidates should show a positive impact in leading climate/health equity initiatives that benefit youth aged 10-24.
  • Applicants must have access to the internet and a device to participate in online Fellowship sessions, as no devices will be provided.
  • Proficiency in English language (speaking, reading, writing) is required.
  • Participants must be able to attend in-person at the One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada from 18-21 September 2024.
  • Candidates should be committed to a one-year Fellowship program and attend at least 75% of modules/activities.
  • Applicants must have the ability to lead and manage the implementation and reporting of a non-profit project funded through the Fellowship.
  • Candidates must be founders or leaders of registered non-profit organizations that meet specific criteria.

In addition

  • Must have been officially registered and functioning for a minimum of three complete years.
  • Must have reported a total income exceeding USD$100,000 but not surpassing USD$2,000,000 in the most recent financial year.
  • Must be prepared for funding and able to provide the necessary documentation (in English) to the Charities Aid Foundation, AstraZeneca’s grant-making partner, for the verification of the organization’s charitable status, governance structure, and financial standing. This verification process typically requires 3-6 months to finalize and will commence after the selection of Fellows. Failure to provide the required documentation may impact the organization’s eligibility to receive the grant, potentially leading to the withdrawal of the Fellowship. Disbursement of all grants is slated to be completed by September 2025, with projects set to commence between September 2024 and March 2025. All initiatives are expected to conclude by November 2025, and the final impact report must be submitted to AstraZeneca by December 31, 2025.

Criteria

Applicants should propose a 6-12 month project that

  • Addresses barriers young people face in accessing healthcare, including health literacy, access, and outcomes.
  • The project should offer an innovative solution that will improve access to healthcare for young people aged 10-24.
  • Projects should be inclusive and non-discriminatory, focusing on marginalized and vulnerable young people.
  • Consideration of environmental impact is important, with priority given to projects that have a positive impact on the environment.
  • The proposal should explain how the project will benefit the targeted beneficiary group and be measurable to demonstrate impact.
  • The project should begin after September 2024 and be completed by November 2025.
