Eligibility Criteria for KAAD Germany Fellowship Program

In other to be eligible for KAAD Germany Fellowship, candidates must:

  • Candidates must come from a developing or emerging country in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or Latin America and are currently living there
  • Possess a university degree as well as needed professional experience from their home country
  • An applicant must desire to acquire a master’s or Ph.D. degree at a German university or do a post-doctoral research project (2-6 months for established university lecturers) at a German university
  • Must be Catholic Christian. Also, Candidates from other religions can apply if they are proposed by Catholic partners and can prove their commitment to interreligious dialogue
  • An applicant must possess German language skills before starting the studies (KAAD can provide a language course of max. 6 months in Germany)

Selection Criteria

There is a high preference for Catholic applicants as KAAD’s mission is to offer scholarships primarily to lay members of the Catholic Church.

The program accepts a limited number of  Protestant Christians, Orthodox Christians (especially from Ethiopia), and Muslims. Best of Luck!
