The A.S. Hornby Educational Trust in partnership with the University of Exeter in the UK, is offering the prestigious Hornby Trust English Language Teaching Scholarships for the 2024/2025 Academic year. The scholarship is open for applicants outside the UK, and all applicants will be jointly considered by the University of Exeter and the Hornby Trust.

Hornby Educational Trust places a high priority on developing the teaching of English in low- and middle-income nations. Teachers and other associated professionals with expertise and proven ability to improve English language instruction in their own country are eligible to apply for Master’s degree scholarships.

Students who fully meet the University of Exeter’s admissions requirements for the MEd TESOL Program for September 2024 enrollment are eligible for up to ten (10) fully funded scholarships, which include full fee waivers and a maintenance stipend of at least £15,500 per year.

  • A minimum of three years of full-time TESOL teaching or related professional experience is required.
  • The scholarship focuses on the University of Exeter’s MEd TESOL program, emphasizing its role in capacity building for English language teaching.
  • Candidates must already hold an undergraduate degree (with grades equivalent to UK upper 2nd class honors or higher) or a relevant postgraduate degree.
  • Applicants are expected to first submit a normal postgraduate application to the University of Exeter for the MEd TESOL program and so receive an Exeter student number.
  • The Exeter student number sent directly to the student will enable him or her to submit their application for a Hornby Scholarship. This is because this number must be included in their application for approval.
