Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri Set to Make a Temporary Move to London
Instagram boss Adam Mosseri is all set to move to London later this year as part of his ongoing plans and fight to keep the social network working and thriving in a marketplace that is increasing competitive. The reported move is partly due to Adam’s personal desire and plan to move to the British capital, as per initial reports by the Financial Times.
Reasons for the Temporary Relocation
With the move, which will of course be temporary, Mosseri also will reportedly build out the Instagram team in Meta’s new Kings Cross headquarters. The UK as you should know is the largest engineering base outside the US for Meta. And the company also could be looking to take advantage of the city’s cheaper cost of labor in the city compared with Silicon Valley, following its first-ever drop in revenue.
Instagram Is Struggling To Keep Up With TikTok
The company at the moment is struggling to define its strategy amid ongoing competition from rival app TikTok. Just last week Mosseri put out a video defending changes to the app, which is inclusive of a greater focus on video content and testing a full-screen home feed, only for him to reverse his decision to keep the changes days later. Instagram is working to shore up its stable of high-profile influencers, but the changes however received backlash from two of the app’s top 10 most-followed users which are Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner.
Adam Mosseri since 2008 has worked for Meta and has in the time become the head of Instagram in 2018 following the departure of the co-founders of the app from the company. And in December 2021, he had to testify before congress in regards to safety after the platform paused the development of a kids version of Instagram earlier in the year.
