Happy 25th Birthday Google

About Google’s Birthday

Fate-led Doctoral student Sergey Brin and Larry Page met in Stanford University’s computer science program in the late 90’s. Quickly, they learned that they shared a similar vision, and that vision was to “Make the World Wide Web a more accessible place”.

They both worked tirelessly from their dorm rooms, developing a prototype for a better search engine. As they made significant progress on the project, they took their operation to Google’s very first office “A Rented Garage”. On September 25, 1998, Google Inc. was born officially.

A lot of changes have taken place since 1998, including Google’s logo as seen in today’s Doodle, but the main aim has always been “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful”. Billions of people from all over the world now make use of Google to search, connect, work, play, and do much more.

Google Doodle

Google created a special Google Doodle for its birthday, the temporary alteration of Google’s regular logo that the search engine carries out for different holidays, and events or to honor notable individuals.

The Birthday Google Doodle honors Google’s logo evolution, from the very first logo to its current iteration, with a special 25th birthday logo at the very end.

What was the first Google Doodle?

The very first Google Doodle officially came not very long after. The first doodle was a stick man over the search engine’s logo in 1998 when co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin took their time to attend the Burning Man festival.

Ever since that moment, there have been over 5000 unique Google Doodles created, from Valentine’s Day to the anniversary of the ice cream Sundae in 2011. And now, a team of engineers and illustrators, given the name doodlers, are responsible for the various Google Doodles.
