A team of environmental advocates from ASEAN, with the backing of the U.S. Department of State and the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), has initiated the GreenLens project.

GreenLens Photo Competition & Virtual Eco-Exhibition 2024 project is available now. The goal of this project is to increase environmental awareness among young people in ASEAN through a photography competition scheduled to take place from March 4, 2024, to April 7, 2024.

The photo competition will be followed by a virtual eco-exhibition where contestants will display their entries. Participants are encouraged to submit their own photos accompanied by descriptions that address environmental issues, emphasizing the theme of Climate Change.

Two Phases of Project

  • Phase 1: Photography Contest

Encourage young people from ASEAN countries to enter their photos with accompanying stories that highlight environmental issues.

  • Phase 2: Online Eco-Exhibition

Display all submitted photos and provide a digital platform to showcase the meaningful environmental stories (Challenges and Solutions) of young people from ASEAN countries.

Eligibility Criteria

  • This competition is open to individuals from any ASEAN country, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Timor-Leste, who are currently residing in an ASEAN country or Timor-Leste.
  • Participants must be 25 years old or younger (born in 1999) and will be required to provide a copy of their ID if selected as a finalist.
